Williams savours Wimbledon win

Serena Williams won her fifth Wimbledon singles title today, beating Polish third seed Agnieszka Radwanska 6-1 5-7 6-2 in the final.

The American sixth seed was clearly emotional after taking the title on Centre Court.

She celebrated by hugging family and friends in the players' box, including father Richard and sister Venus, who was knocked out of the grand slam in the first round.

Serena jumped for joy as she collected the coveted women's Rosewater Dish, with one spectator breaking the silence ahead of the presentation, shouting: "We love you Serena" from the stands.

A tearful Serena said: "Oh my god, I can't even describe. Thank Jehovah for letting me get this far.

"A few years ago, I was in hospital and now I'm here again and it's so worth it and I'm just so happy.

"I never dreamed of being here again. Just never give up, you can continue."

She thanked her family for their endless support, saying: "Know if you are over there, thank you from the bottom of my heart and I love you all and I could never have done this without you."
